Train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in paradise.
WHAT YOU Need to Know
-
Yes, but Jaco Jiu-Jitsu specializes in private, by appointment Jiu-Jitsu training. 1-on-1 coaching accelerates progress because it focuses on the individual athlete’s strengths and weaknesses.
We also accept groups of up to five people, and private students may schedule “open mat” time to work technique.
-
Super friendly. Professor Donahue loves teaching basic Jiu Jitsu because a solid foundation drives success at every level, from white belt through black.
Getting started is also simple. Just reach out on WhatsApp, and we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer all your questions along the way.
Group Jiu Jitsu classes can be intimidating, but Jaco Jiu Jitsu’s friendly 1-on-1 approach enables the new athlete to learn the basics and get comfortable with an experienced professor focused solely on their development.
-
EVERYONE! We encourage anyone from any Jiu Jitsu school to train at Jaco Jiu-Jitsu. We are inclusive and believe in cross-training.
This philosophy sets Jaco Ju Jitsu apart from other Jiu-Jitsu dojos in Jaco that have a tribal mentality. We believe athletes should be able to train where they want, when they want.
It is always about what’s best for the athlete’s that train here.
-
A positive attitude and an open mind is most important. Water is also essential.
We train gi and no-gi so bring the gear you want to train in. If you don’t have it, loaner gear may be available upon request.
-
Sessions are booked by appointment only. WhatsApp is the best way to get an immediate response, but you can also email JP at JP@JacoJiuJitsu.com.

Jaco Jiu-Jitsu is the best Jiu-Jitsu School in Jaco, but we encourage all prospective students to do their homework before they make decision about where to train:
Before you choose a Jiu-Jitsu school, research who your instructor is.
What’s their lineage? Who gave them their black belt? How long have they had it?
Do they compete? Have they won any majors? What about their students?
How do they do in competition?
Take a trial class. See if you like the culture.
Ask the other students questions. See what kind of reputation the instructor has.
Have there been problems at the school? Be careful, some dojos with qualified teachers are toxic.
Jaco-Jiu Jitsu is confident that if you ask the right questions, you’ll see that Jaco-Jiu Jitsu is the best place to train Jiu-Jitsu in Jaco.
The safest space.
The best attitude.
The best instructor.
That gentle breeze that blows through the only dojo in Jaco with epic ocean and sunset views.
This is how Jiu-Jitsu in Costa Rica is meant to be.
This is Jiu-Jitsu in paradise.
